Developing the Interface
When producing the main menu for the app I need to keep in mind the target demographic. Simplicity and minimalist layout is key to not confuse the user.
Ube uses a simple(ish) design but the colours are very vivid and therefore distract the user. The white text over the blue gradient button is an example of this.

MinimaList is a note taking app for the Windows smartphone platform. I uses a flat UI interface design, avoiding bevel and emboss - which can give the interface a sense of clutter.
Therefore I will move towards the flat UI design when creating the interface.

The Task
Energy Consumption. The broad term can be applied to various aspects of energy through to monitoring the melting Ice Caps to understanding how a kettle boils for a high school class. However, the biggest part of energy consumption is it's toll on the wallet; it always revolves around money and the people it effects the most is the everyday consumer.
Therefore we are going to aim our app at the everyday consumer and lending them a hand on how they can save their struggling money on electricity and gas because at the end of the day, these are paramount to our everyday lives but are always inflating in price.
In response to saving the everyday consumer money in their bank account, the long term hopes for the app lye in saving the planet.

So our app will at it's heart will monitor a consumers household, giving them statistics on the energy consumption of their individual lights and radiators in their home. As well as monitoring it will give the user the option to control these individual parameters and consequently give them ease of access to their usage through the power of their mobile device.
